How to Develop an NTA Curricula For NACTE Accredited Colleges in Tanzania
Below are brief 7 stages any consultant or in charge of the technical college in Tanzania should follow to develop a curriculum for Basic Technician Certificate and Ordinary Diploma course.
Here are 7 very important stages to follow in order to develop the curriculum:
Stage #1
Prepare materials and people for curricula development process. Eg you may need to use questionnaires etc
Stage #2
Conduct a Situational Analysis in order to know the prevailing situation and if the intervention will reduce the problems
Stage #3
Develop a draft of the curricula to be presented to the stakeholders consultative workshop for fine tuning.
Stage #4
Conduct a one day or two day stakeholders consultative workshop to discuss and refine the draft of the curricula
Stage #5
Write a workshop report, the refined curricula and submit to NACTE together with the Situational Analysis report.
Stage #6
NACTE will send you an invoice to pay accreditation fee, please pay ASAP and send the relevant evidence of payment to NACTE Executive Secretary
Stage #7
There is a possibility that NACTE will go through the documents and return with observations. Go through the NACTE observations and respond them, one by one. Prepare also the corrected documents and resend them to NACTE
The curricula is now validated and ready to be used for training
Minor and Major Review Stage
For every one to three years a review is recommended in order to make the curricula uptodate and covers all market, stakeholders and NACTE requirements
Type of reviews
- Minor Curricula Review: involve minor changes that do not affect the whole curriculum objectives, correcting error like spelling, grammar, reference changes, etc This type of review is done in a routine manner inhouse without involving stakeholders
- Major Curricula Review: involve changes that affect not only the whole curricula form but also its objectives. Changes may include unit weight, introducing new topics etc – This type of review normally requires to involve stakeholders and done after every 5 years
- Curricula Renew: This is a process of creating a new curricula from the old one. All procedure for curriculla development from stage 1-7 has to be followed
