Ten (10) Easy Steps to Register Company through BRELA Website

Introduction

From February 1, 2018 #BRELA announced the establishment of its system for facilitating the owners of business companies to register and submit returns to BRELA. Also BRELA already announced that in the date 25 March 2018 its original system of OBRS which was allowing registration of business name and clearance of the companies name through the website was to be closed officially to allow the new system of ORS with the capacity of registering business and company names which officially start doing work.

Ten steps to follow in order to register a company are explained below.

TEN (10) STEPS FOR REGISTRATION

Step #1: Registrar’s information

To use ORS, customer (registrar) who wants to register a company should have information about the registrar (registrar can be one of the managing director, secretary or members/stake holders)

The information is:-

1.      National identity for citizen and passport for foreigner

2.      Mobile phone

3.      E-mail

Step #2:  Company’s information

The company’s information needed is:-

1.      Type of company as a stake or non-stake, individual or public

2.      Company’s name

3.      Activity description

Step #3:  Company’s location

Company’s location information which is:-

1.      Location type (if surveyed or not)

2.      If not surveyed prepare physical location in the format, region, district, ward, village, suburb and explain if the location is near which signs which are permanent like primary schools etc. don’t put temporary signs, BRELA won’t accept them)

3.      If surveyed prepare:  region name, district, ward, village/street, road, plot number, nursery and house, post office box, official telephone number/mobile and e-mail

Step #4:  Company’s activities

o    Mention company’s activities as listed in the ISIC Classification system

Step #5: Managing director’s information

The manager’s information needed is:-

1.      Type of the managing directing ( individual or organization)

2.      Origin (citizen or foreigner)

3.      National identity for citizen and passport for foreigner

4.      TIN

5.      Mobile number

6.      E-mail

7.      Physical location for every director in the format the office address above  

Physical location information as follows:-

1.      Location type (if surveyed or not)

2.      If not surveyed prepare physical location in the format, region, district, ward, village, suburb and explain if the location is near which signs which are permanent like primary schools etc. don’t put temporary signs, BRELA won’t accept them)

3.      If surveyed prepare:  region name, district, ward, village/street, road, plot number, nursery and house, post office box, official telephone number/mobile and e-mail

Step #6:  Secretary’s information

Company secretary’s information needed is:-

1.      Type of secretary (individual or institution)

2.      Its origin (citizen or foreigner)

3.      National identity for citizen and passport for foreigner

4.      Mobile number

5.      E-mail

6. Physical location for every director in the format the office address above

Physical location information as follows:-

1.      Location type (if surveyed or not)

2.      If not surveyed prepare physical location in the format, region, district, ward, village, suburb and explain if the location is near which signs which are permanent like primary schools etc. don’t put temporary signs, BRELA won’t accept them)

3.      If surveyed prepare:  region name, district, ward, village/street, road, plot number, nursery and house, post office box, official telephone number/mobile and e-mail

Step #7:  Member’s information/stock holder

Member’s information/stake holder needed is:-

8.      Type of person (individual or organization)

9.      Origin (citizen or foreigner)

10.  National identity for citizen and passport for foreigner

11.  TIN

12.  Mobile number

13.  E-mail

14.  Physical location for every director in the format the office address  

Location information as follows:-

4.      Location type (if surveyed or not)

5.      If not surveyed prepare physical location in the format, region, district, ward, village, suburb and explain if the location is near which signs which are permanent like primary schools etc. don’t put temporary signs, BRELA won’t accept them)

6.      If surveyed prepare:  regional name, district, ward, village/street, road, plot number, nursery and house, post office box, official telephone number/mobile and e-mail

Step #8:  Attachments

Attachments needed to be attached in pdf are:-

1.      Memorandum and articles of association signed by members/stake holders and Notary Public

2.      Form 14b signed by one of the managing directors and Notary Public

3.      Ethics and Integrity Forms signed by one of the managing directors

4.      Company consolidated form signed by all managing directors and the company’s secretary

Step #9:  Registration fee and filing

Fee payment is as follows;

1.      Company’s registration

2.      Filing documents

Step #10: How to pay

Fee paying is done in two ways

1.      Mobile number through M-PESA, Tigo Pesa, Airtel Money, HaloPesa

2.      Paying through CRDB or NMB bank accounts

Remember: you will be given the order of payment when you rich the stage

Conclusion and advice

BRELA won’t be using old method for registration that is to send hard paper and wait for it for six days. Also BRELA doesn’t allow a person without national ID that is #NIDA to register a company or a business name. Information’s given above are those which are compulsory in which without them you cannot complete your registration. 

I advice:

1.      If you want to be registered company’s immediately contact through  contacts

2.      If you don’t have national identity and you have enrolled to get one, visit any NIDA office near you so that they give you at least your identity number so that you can attach with BRELA approval to get NIDA identity immediately.

3.      Also if not yet enrolled better hurry, even through the area where the exercise is taking place because the government is preventing public services if no identity. Also attach BRELA approval to get NIDA identity immediately

4.      Lastly, you should have this information at hand because the ORS registration format gives you (6) six days to complete registration if not yet all information will be erased forcing you to start from the scratch.
